iGetter and Quicksilver and other 3th party apps.
I have to start off by saying that man this kind of apps are what make using the Mac fun for me. I don't know what the one point of these apps are I have run have that makes they so much fun and good looking, but from someone that has come back to the Mac from the Dark Side if computing is this. It just works!! Anyway on with apps.
First off I have been using a download manger app called iGetter. I know before anyone out there starts telling me that most any web browser out there has a built in downloader. I know that and yes most of the time I use Safari's download manger, but there are time even with a fast DSL to the Internet that some sites are piss ass slow. At downloading, So those are the times that I use iGetter. Because on a site thats being slow I can get the file with iGetter almost 3 times faster. Because what a download manger will do as to just your web browser is first off it will make pieces of the file your trying to get. Then it will make as up to 5 to 15 links to the pieces of the file that it has made. So there for on a slow one time shot of downloading with the web browser, iGetter can get the same file with faster speeds. So I can get on with surfing to the next site.

Now on to Quicksilver. I have played with this app for sometime. It's ok but what makes this in my mind more like windows then a Mac app. Is the fact that at it's base it tries to bring back something to OS X that was in OS 7 - 9 the old app bar. Mind you with a new take on it. Will thats nice and all but lets move on the old OS 7-9 day are long gone never to came back just look at where the Mac is now. For those of you that might have been living under a rock some on Skill Island. The new Macs are now fully running Intel inside. Now the 2nd thing that make this app more windows than Mac is the fact that it try to do what OS X 10.4 is doing, that being searching you hard drive for you. Now come on if that's not a windows thing there what is. What I mean by that is this. Windows will come with a built in app for something then someone will think they can do it beater and make a app that in most cases will not even come close. Now the other thing that I have seen with this app is that there are persons making plugins for this app that make it almost do ever thing for you on the Mac. Now that is the same thing that Windows apps will do, try to make a pice of software do everything other then maybe walk your dog or wash your car for you.

As far as I can tell what makes a Mac app great is this it does maybe at the most a hand full of thing will and that is all. That is why Mac apps and even the Macintosh work so will.

Next off is Apple's BootCamp as far is I can tell it run windows and get windows up and run in no time flat. So with having this in the next Ver of OS X. We as Mac owners should not see this as a sell out on Apple's part but a way by them being able to get into more end users homes and even places where Macs where not able to be used, like in some schools and big Biz and even into the Government where there users would love to have a Mac to be able to use but to be able to get into some programs they have to run windows. I hope you see where this is going. I my self have some apps that can only run under windows, don't say will I would bet that those programs you can find a Mac ver of them. Will yes and no. 2 of them yes the last no. The 2 that I can find Mac Vers for cost more than I make in a year of work to buy. No go there. The last on one was only made for the windows side of things and will never see the light of a Mac.
Anyway I will do more looking at some other apps for the Mac in a day or to. Till then See you all later. And think Mac.

Target thinks that it should be Apples biges iPod seller.
Will I have gotten to take a look at the new SouthLake Apple store here in north Texas. All I can say is cool and about time.
Now on to the main part. As you all know I have got a new job. Will now I work for Target as one of there over night flow team. For anyone out no I don't like the job. But it does let me have a inside look at thing they are stocking. One them is the iPod 5th Gens and the iPod nano's. Now what I have seen and headed from this job is that Target is pissed with Apple for not making more of the 60 GB players. No Apple has not stopped making the player but has cut back on putting them on to store shelves near there Apple stores. something like a 10 mile mark. I know I have gone to Walmart and other big name outlet stores around the new SouthLake Apple Store, and found about every where I have gone in about 10 miles from there do not have 60 GB 5th Gen iPods and have not had them for sometime.
Now that is not big surprise what is. Is the fact that Target thinks they have the right to tell Apple to send them more, or they will pull there Apple stuff off there store shelves. As far as I have seen instore posting make it look as if Apple has caved in to Target. But from what I can found out by talking to Apple they are about to set there sights on Target's target (No pun there.). So what it looks as if Apple may tell Target to take flying fuck at it own target. From other posting from with in Target they just might lose all of there rights to sell Apple branded anything. Time will only tell. Let me, Apple and Target know just what you think about this BS that going on.
